Bienvenidos! The staff of Móntez Gallery welcomes you to our web site. The gallery is situated in the historic Sena Plaza mansion built in the 1840’s in downtown Santa Fe.

My name is Rey Móntez, founder and owner of the gallery since November 1989. Móntez Gallery is represented by a staff with expertise and devotion to heritage -- each with their special talents and pride in excellent customer service and quality artworks.

Pictured below is my nephew, Zachary Alejandro Móntez Skolnik, creator of this website and one of our sales assistants. To his left is my sister, María Margarita Raquel Móntez Skolnik who opened a gallery in Santa Fe in the 1970s named El Telar which showcased the weaving of my mother's family, the Jaramillos from Chimayó. She also represented santero Ben Ortega. To her left is my nephew, Benjamin Ramon Móntez Skolnik, sales assistant and creative contributor.

For almost four centuries the Móntez family has made Santa Fe its home. Since the 1600’s, family members have been builders, farmers, artisans, and those in the clergy. Among the most accomplished of the artisans is Ramón Móntez (recently featured in Tradición Revista magazine), whose devotion and perfection to detail represent the heritage and inspiration for Móntez Gallery.

Today, with over 65 years of experience in making and understanding New Mexico religious art, the Móntez Gallery, under the ownership of Rey Móntez, son of Ramón Móntez, presents Santa Fe’s largest collection of Spanish Colonial Art for the discriminating buyer. Móntez Gallery is recognized by awards of distinction for its authenticity, representation, and preservation of this specialized art form. We have become known for our credibility and reputation for quality religious art objects from New Mexico, Mexico and around-the-world! We were voted the "Best Hispanic Gallery in Santa Fe" by Santa Feans; Southwest Magazine listed us as an important reason to visit Santa Fe; the December 1999 issue of Travel & Leisure magazine stated that we were the gallery to visit for Christmas shopping; all major travel guide books list us as an important gallery to visit while in Santa Fe; and, National Geographic is preparing an article about us that will come out early this year. Please join us in your collection of quality contemporary and antique santos.

Include yourself among our many happy clients -- serious art collectors, seekers of devotional art forms, and those attracted and inspired by the representation of history and culture -- who have repeatedly used our expertise and quality service and invested in our special one-of-a-kind art pieces.

Voted the best Hispanic gallery in Santa Fe by The Santa Fe Reporter’s "Best in Santa Fe", Southwest Magazine’s "101 Reasons to Visit Santa Fe," and featured in several other travel magazines’ "must see places while in Santa Fe," including National Geographic and Travel and Leisure, Móntez Gallery is proud to be part of this historic art form.
